Geboren 1959 in Münster/Westfalen. Tod des eineiigen Zwillingsbruders bei der Geburt, seither Studium der Philosophie. Kunstgeschichte durchaus studiert und leider auch Jura. 1979 bis 1982 in Freiburg und Rom, seit 1982 in Berlin. 1987 bis 1991 Studium Freie Kunst und Film an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Braunschweig bei Gerhard Büttenbender und Birgit Hein. Stipendium Kunstfonds Bonn 1993/94. Seine Filme erhielten u.a. den Preis der Deutschen Filmkritik für den besten experimentellen Film und den Preis für den besten Kurzfilm im deutschen Wettbewerb, Oberhausen. Zahlreiche Missionen und Touren durch die BRD, USA und Kanada. Werkschauen u.a. im Museum of Modern Art, New York; No Budget Hamburg; AudioVisuellExperimenteel Festival Arnhem; Stuttgarter Filmwinter; New Orleans. Der Künstler lebt und arbeitet.

Biographie/biography Mindy Faber ist eine Preise einheimsende unabhängige Videomacherin und Co-Direktorin der Video Data Bank, eine der führenden Verleihorganisationen für unabhängige Videos und Videokunst in den USA. Faber produziert seit 1985 - in diesem Jahr machte sie ihr hochgelobtes Video Suburban Queen. Ihre Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der weiblichen Identität im sozial-politischen und persönlichen Kontext. Faber kuratierte mehrere Videokunst-Ausstellungen, bspw. "City of Big Shoulders", Videos aus Chicago präsentiert in Glasgow; "A Tool, A Weapon, A Witness", Randolph Street Gallery, und "Oedipus Interruptus", eine Reihe von Videos über erotische Beherrschung, Macht und Psychoanalyse. Faber machte ihre Abschlußarbeit an der University of Kentucky art and media studies. Sie erhielt ihren "Master of Fine Arts" im Bereich Video an der School of the Art Institute of Chicago 1985. Seit dieser Zeit erhielt Faber Unterstützung vom American Film Institute Independent Filmmaker Program, National Endowements for the Arts, Illinois Arts Council und von den NEA's Regional Fellowhip Programs für die Produktion von fünf Videoprogrammen. Ihr letztes Video, Delirium, gewann mehrere Preise u.a. den Hauptpreis des Videofest Berlin '94 und den ersten Preis des Atlanta Film/Video Festival 1993 in der Kategorie Experimentalfilm. Sie arbeitet zur Zeit an einem Video über die alltäglichen Widersprüchlichkeiten der amerikanischen Demokratie.

Mindy Faber is an award-winning independent video producer and the Associate Director of the Video Data Bank, a leading distributor of independent and alternative video in the U.S. Faber has been producing videos since 1985 when she made her highly acclaimed video, Suburban Queen. Her work addresses the complexities of female identitiy within a social-political and personal framework. Faber has also curated a number of video exhibitions including: "City of Big Shoulders": Chicago Video originally presented in Glasgow Scotland; "A Tool, A Weapon, A Witness" for Randolph Street Gallery; and, "Oedipus Interruptus", a series of videos about erotic domination, power and psychoanalysis. Faber did her under-graduate work at the University of Kentucky art and media studies. She received her Masters of Fine Arts in Video from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1985. Since that time Faber has received grants from the American Film Institute Independent Filmmaker Program, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Illinois Arts Council and the NEA's Regional Fellowship Programs towards the production five video programs. Her most recent video, Delirium has won several awards including Main Prize at the Berlin Film Festival's Videofest '94 and First Prize at the 1993 Atlanta Film/Video Festival in the experimental category. She is currently working on a video about the everyday contradictions of American democracy.

Zweitstudium Kunstgeschichte und Germanistik. 1983 Redakteurin beim Wochenmagazin "stern", Kulturredaktion. Arbeitet seit 1984 als Filmautorin und Redakteurin im Bereich Fernsehen (SDR/SWF). Als stellvertretende Redaktionsleiterin verantwortlich für das wöchentliche TV-Kulturmagazin "Kultur Südwest" (Südwest Drei), eine aktuelle, regionale Kultursendung im 3. Programm, geprägt durch eine journalistisch-kritische wie filmisch-innovative Herangehensweise an Themen aus den Bereichen Kunst, Kulturpolitik, Film, Theater, Literatur, Musik, Architektur.

As an assistant head of the editorialoffice she's responsible for the weekly TV-cultural magazine "Kultur Südwest", an up-to-date and regional cultural programme charcterized by a critical journalistic as well as innovative cinematic approach to subjects from the fields of art, cultural policy, film, theatre, literature, music, architecture.

Biografie/biography Ela Troyano, geboren 1958 in Havanna, ist eine in New York wohnende Latina-Filmemacherin, deren Filme und Performances in ganz Amerika und auf internationalen Festivals gezeigt wurden. Sie war ebenso Mitbegründerin des New York Down Town Film Festival. Troyano hat unlängst zwei halbstündige Filme fertiggestellt, die vom Independent Television Service für das öffentliche Fernsehen gefördert wurden: "Once upon a Time in fhe Bronx" und "Carmelita Tropicano: Your Kunst is your Waffen". Troyano bereitet gerade ihr erstes Langfilmprojekt vor, "Latin Boys Go to Hell", für das sie 1994 Unterstützung von der Jerome Foundation erhielt. Außerdem arbeitet sie derzeit an einem experimentellen Kurzfilm: "Elegy, for Jean Genet". Troyano erhielt 1993 das Rockefeller Fellowship Stipendium und wurde zuvor durch das New York State Council for the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts und Film and Apparatus Productions. Sie wurde mit zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Drehbuchseminaren bei INTAR mit Maria Irene Fornes ausgezeichnet und ausgewählt, am ersten Latino Screenwriter`s Workshop am Sundance Institute mit Gabriel Garcia Marquez teilzunehmen.

Ela Troyano, born 1958 in Havanna, is a New York-based, Latina filmmaker whose films and performances have been shown throughout the U.S. and at international festivals. She's also the Co-founder of the New York Down Town Film Festival. Troyano recently completed two half-hour films funded by the Independent Television Service (ITVS) for public television: "Once Upon A Time In The Bronx" and "Carmelita Tropicano: Your Kunst Is Your Waffen". Troyano is currently developing her first feature film project, "Latin Boys Go To Hell" for which she recently received a 1994 Jerome Foundation grant. Besides she`s working on a short experimental film, "ELEGY, for Jean Genet". Troyano is a 1993 recipient of a Rockfeller Fellowship and has previously received support from the New York State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Film and Apparatus Productions. She was awarded two consecutive writing fellowships at INTAR with Maria Irene Fornes, and was selected to attend the first Latino Screenwriter's workshop at the Sundance Institute with Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
