Celluloidiva
D 2008, Digital, Farbe, 11:50 Min.
Regie/ Drehbuch/ Kamera/ Schnitt: Harald Schleicher, Ton: Holger Jung, Musik: Richard Kristen

What does it take to become a woman, to be a woman, to stay a woman? Difficult questions - not only women do know that. But help is at hand: Divas of the silver screen show us the way. Movie icons speak out on longing and fear, love and hate and the search for female identity. They share their passion, their happiness and their tears and their assertiveness with us. A movie without men? Almost without men.

Holobomo
CDN 2009, MiniDV, Farbe, 4:25 Min.
Regie/ Drehbuch/ Kamera/ Schnitt/ Ton/ Darsteller: Owen Eric Wood

Every day, we are bombarded by images. Our eyes are real estate coveted by our media-savy culture. The visions in movies become more important than our own memories and experiences. Even though they may have no relevance to our lives, we struggle to find meaning in the images we see. Desperate to connect, we appropriate an artificially-constructed culture as our own, the stages of our lives segmented into episodic time slots. Our interactions mimic staged events we've seen somewhere before. And all we want is to be part of the picture, but we become shells of ourselves. We become imitations of life.

Eight-year-old Rose wonders why her pet rabbit isn't moving until her older brother, Alex, declares him dead. Armed with her imagination and Alex's less than helpful explanations, Rose enters a world of macabre fantasy. She conjures up her own idea of what death may be like and in doing so, is able to say goodbye.

Dick Cheney in a cold, dark Cell
USA 2009, MiniDV, Farbe, 2:40 Min.
Regie: Jim Finn

River ice sets the scene for Judy Garland’s international justice cri de coeur. It’s hard to understate the amount of anxiety created by a vice president who usurped authority for eight years to start wars and wreck the economy and then sidled off to Wyoming to be a retired Hero of the Right. Impunity is not just the stuff of autocratic dictatorships in the third world. The American form of impunity is going to get us all killed.

Taumel
Tumble

D 2008, Digital, S/W, 6:00 Min.
Regie/ Drehbuch/ Schnitt: Kai Zimmer

The postman always rings twice: film noir meets neo-realism and editing creates new dimensions.

Breakfast in Leningrad
CDN 2009, 16 mm, Farbe, 4:50 Min.
Regie/ Drehbuch/ Animation/ Kamera/ Schnitt/ Ton/ Musik: Witkacy

An expressionistic dance between my woodworking tools and 16mm film.

Imaging Machine
A 2008, DV, Farbe & S/W, 5:25 Min.
Regie/ Drehbuch/ Animation/ Schnitt/ Ton/ Musik: Karin Fisslthaler

The source material was mainly derived from scenes of US movies in which people touch each other – either affectionately, violently or incidentally. The affected bodies as well as the backgrounds of these scenes were digitally removed leaving only the hands positioned on a black background. “Imaging Machine” explores human gestures and non-verbal communication in movies - it is an analysis of the interpretation of bodies, gender roles and the heterosexual standards of desire in movies.

Schwarz-weiß Marsch
March in Black and White

D 2009, Super 8, Farbe, 1:10 Min.
Regie/ Drehbuch/ Schnitt: Stefan Möckel, Musik: Volksmusik

Women dancing in black and white clothes. A found footage film of the 1970s.

Charades
USA 2009, MiniDV, Farbe & S/W, 7:00 Min.
Regie/ Schnitt/ Ton:  Ann Steuernagel

The creation of „Charades“ was compelled by California’s passage of Proposition 8 which eliminates same-sex couples’ rights to marry. This found footage piece is a celebration of boy/girl identity and lesbian sexuality and is also an aknowledgement of the struggle and courage it takes to be seen for who one really is.

Tro, håp og ærlighet
Faith, hope and honesty

N 2008, Digital, Farbe, 23:00 Min.
Regie/ Drehbuch/ Animation/ Schnitt/ Ton/ Musik: Helene Torp, DarstellerInnen: Linda Sheret, Bard Breivik

”Tro, håp og ærlighet” deals with love at a really high – and low – level. We meet Jens and Lena, who know the art of war. Primitive and highly complex conversations occur. It deals with power and manners, and a strong antipathy when the ego meets reality.
